02 Letter from the President of the JSW Management Board
I am pleased to present to you the third integrated report of the JSW Capital Group, which will make it possible to present our activities in 2020.
The report contains the most important information about the effects of managing our enterprise in the areas that arouse the greatest interest among our stakeholders - actions taken both in the field of improving work safety, in the social, environmental, employee, management area, as well as development and innovation.

In 2020, the Group suffered noticeable, negative effects of the pandemic situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus in all areas of its operations.
The JSW Group closed last year with a loss of PLN 1,537.4 million, generated sales revenues of PLN 6,989.4 million, while the JSW Group's EBITDA was PLN (638.4) million.

Expenditure on environmental protection amounted to PLN 235.0 million in JSW and PLN 273.6 million in the Group. The Group continued its integrated environmental protection efforts, made in compliance with legal environmental conditions while taking into account the needs of local stakeholders and the local community.

We base our development on good, long-term and trust-based relationships with customers, using all our strengths - raw material quality, strategic location in the heart of the European metallurgical industry and access to transport infrastructure - mainly railway.

Believing in the potential and future of coal, we create conditions for the development of innovation in the production and use of this raw material. We rely on our own resources, i.e. the knowledge of the Group's employees, and on cooperation with external entities - primarily research institutions and enterprises from the mining environment.
The systematic approach to R&D is evidenced by the establishment of JSW Innowacje and our commitment to prospective development directions, such as obtaining hydrogen from coke oven gas.

Thanks to system solutions in the field of occupational health and safety management, we are successful in reducing the number of accidents and eliminating diseases related to the profession of a miner. It is possible thanks to education, health prophylaxis, an extensive training system as well as investments and innovations focused on production automation.
Mining activities involve harmful factors and risks that threaten the health and life of our employees. We place their safety higher than the level of extraction or the economic result.

A Code of Ethics has been in force at the JSW Group since 2018.
It is a signpost on the path of building a uniform organizational culture, effectively regulating issues such as: respect for the property of companies, property of third parties, mutual respect and the elimination of all forms of discrimination, mobbing and violation of employee rights.

We must respect them and use them rationally, eliminating imperfections in management and developing and implementing new technological solutions.

Our goal is to reconcile the maximization of the economic efficiency of the use of natural resources with the reduction of the negative impact of mining and coking activities on the environment and local communities.
We improve the mining damage settlement system, implement ambitious projects in the field of reclamation and development of post-mining areas, protect surface waters and implement innovations limiting emissions through the commercial management of methane and coke oven gas.
