Project name: “Reduction of methane from ventilation air in the coal mining transformation process”
Acronym: ProVAM
Contest: Coal and Steel Research Fund
The purposes of the ProVAM project are:
- to develop assumptions and guidelines for the utilisation of ventilated air methane (VAM) through analysis and research of air parameters from European coal mines, a multi-criteria forecast of CH4 emissions in the coal mining sector transformation process, identification of constraints and definition of conditions for the installation of VAM reduction facilities and an analysis of the feasibility of adapting available VAM solutions,
- selection of an appropriate and development of a dedicated ventilated methane utilisation technology on the basis of laboratory tests and an economic analysis of its application,
- development of a model and simulation of the installation's operation, followed by testing of the technology under the conditions of Experimental Mine "Barbara", which will enable the creation of a concept for its application in hard coal mines.
