– We are proud of the success of our volleyball players. A few years ago, launching the Jastrzębski Węgiel Talent Academy project, which has been supported by Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa from the very beginning, we didn’t even dream that we’re creating a real power of youth and junior volleyball – said Artur Wojtków, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa Vice-President.

The Academics went through the group phase like a storm. In the first two games they lost only one set, thanks to which they came first in Group B with a full set of points. In the first game, coach Dariusz Luks’s players, sent Anbud MKS Będzin home without losing a single set. In the second match, the home team took on Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa, which managed to win only one set.

The second team of the Jastrzębski Węgiel Talent Academy closed the games in Group A with only one defeat. In the first game, after a fierce, five-set battle, Jastrzębie players turned out better than BBTS Włókniarz Bielsko-Biała. In the second match coach Jakub Dejewski’s players lost to AZS Eco-Team Częstochowa in three sets.

The semi-finals were dominated by derby games. In the first semi-finals, two Częstochowa teams met. The players from AZS Eco-Team proved better – in three sets they sent Hemarpol Norwid home. The second semi-finals was a battle between the first and second team of the Talent Academy.  The first team played a better game, defeating their colleagues 3:0.

In the game for the third place, the teams of Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa and Jastrzębski Węgiel Talent Academy II crossed swords. The Jastrzębie players came out on top winning 3:1.

In the finals of the four-day tournament, with the full house and the support from, among others, the players from the Jastrzębski Węgiel senior team, the Academics fought the juniors from AZS Eco-Team Częstochowa. The first set was a total knockout. Jastrzębie won to eleven points. The second set was more hard-fought, but the Częstochowa players did not manage to fight an equal fight anyway. The set ended with the Orange Team’s win 25:19. In the third set, after an equal beginning, the Częstochowa players managed to gain a several-point advantage, which they managed to keep until the end of the set with the score of 20:25. The fourth set was just a show of the Academics’ strength. They were in the lead from the very beginning, increasing the advantage with every serve. The fourth set ended with the score of 25:16, and the whole match 3:1.

The cups and medals were handed out, among others, by the stars from the first Jastrzębski Węgiel team, Marcin Weiner, president of the Silesian Volleyball Association, Artur Wojtków, JSW Vice-President and Adam Gorol, President of KS Jastrzębski Węgiel. – We are very happy with the success.
