After obtaining a new license Krupiński mining territory will cover 33.8 square kilometers and spread in the region of Suszec, Orzesze and Żory. The area will be greater than under the previous concession because of land located north and east of the current mining territory.
Once the license is acquired Krupiński mine will be able to develop 10 coal seams. The operational reserves of hard coal (possible to extract) are estimated at 48.8 million tons. Getting a new license for the Krupiński mine enables JSW to implement the strategic objective of securing the right to resources of coal and access to the new deposit.
- Thanks to the new license Krupiński mine will be permitted to operate at least until 2030, to the benefit of the local community as the present jobs will be maintained for present employees as well as our cooperators - emphasized Marian Kurpas, director of Krupiński mine.
- The social aspect of the impact on the local labor market stability and mutually beneficial cooperation with the municipality and cities where the mine will continue to operate is of special importance for us - said director Marian Kurpas.
Before JSW has applied for a license, a number of formal and legal requirements had to be met - including environmental decision, in which the municipalities agree to conduct operation on its territory - under certain conditions.
