The competition was entered by 14 teams in two age categories: from Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Pawłowice, Ornontowice, Knurów and Suszec. Children were requested to devise and implement an information campaign to encourage the highest possible number of residents to perform separate collection, save water, electricity, and take other actions for the environment.
The children could freely select tools. And hence, posters, leaflets, exhibitions, videos and even forests in jars were prepared. The young environmentalists organized also happenings, performances, demonstration lessons, and created sculptures and websites. It was not only creativity and execution but also, as would be expected of a professional campaign, its reach and, obviously, the substantive level that was evaluated.
There were as many as 8 teams in the group of winners since the Jury, captivated by the works, awarded two additional distinctions.
“I am proud of and impressed with what you have shown. We are very pleased, especially that we are a company that always thinks positively of the environment: we use methane for electricity production, we have assembled solar panels on roofs to generate energy, we have electric vehicles, we sort waste.”, Daniel Ozon, President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, addressed the winners when congratulating them and thanking the supervisors of the groups for their enormous engagement. “We will promote what you have done so far because we must remember about the environment all the time.”
The teams competed for exceptionally attractive prizes. First of all, the schools of all winners will be visited by a team of crazy scientists to make some experiments together at a special show. Additionally, the prize pool included home electronics, cinema tickets, books and other small gifts for the participants.
