The day before the Run for New Life, the "Second Life" awards were presented. It's a way of honoring individuals and institutions that have made special contributions to transplant medicine, be it in medical practice, science or promotion. During the Gala, awardees in six categories appeared on stage: Personality of Polish Transplantation, Active for Transplantation, Media about Transplantation, Active after Transplantation and Year in Polish Transplantation. Special awards of the Run for New Life will also be presented. One of them - for the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze - was presented by Tomasz Cudny, the President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, which is a partner of the event.

- The Run for New Life is a noble initative, as well as an opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity - says Tomasz Cudny, President of the JSW Management Board.

- Our Company feels obligated to support, educate and create awareness about transplantation.Through our involvement, we want, together with the organizers of the Run for New Life, to build public support for transplantation, disseminate certificates of intent and conscious organ donation. Each year, the Run for New Life holds a special place in our plans. I am proud to be with you and support this important project - added the President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.

The participants of the Nordic walking march traditionally included people after transplantation from all over Poland - donors and recipients, as well as people we know from films, theater, stage, sports arenas or the media. Among more than 50 medical authorities were representatives of leading transplant centers, former representatives of Polish transplant medicine, including transplant physicians, cardiologists, nephrologists and transplant coordinators.

At the start line, in the Wisła market square, stood 90 relay teams, including representatives of JSW. For the first time in the event's history, the celebrities, transplant patients, medical representatives and partners were joined by students from 17 schools in the Silesian voivodeship.
