Budryk has the deepest shaft in Poland

In Budryk, belonging to JSW , the shaft deepening has been completed. The shaft has been deepened by 286 meters and now its depth is 1320 meters. - This is probably the deepest shaft in the Polish mining industry - says Jan Płaczek, Head of Production Planning, Investment and Development at Budryk Mine.

Deepening the shaft VI is the next step in the great investment "Launching the level of 1290," of which the goal is to reach 122.5 million tons of the best coking coal between levels 1050 and 1290. By making access to the deposits in this huge bed the longevity of the mine will be prolonged and thus mining could be conducted till the year 2077.

The first ton of hard coking coal sought after on the market, is to be extracted from a new level in mid-2017. It will be the wall CW-1 in the b 402 seam.

Deepening the shaft started in July 2011 from the level 1,050 meters, and the work was being performed during normal operation of the shaft. The works associated with dismantling of the deepened part of the shaft are being performed at present. It will also be necessary to build in the various types of pipes, for example compressed air, drainage and fire pumps. The final stage of this investment will be the pumping station construction at the level of 1290.

In the coming years the Budryk mine plans to extend the shaft lift built in the northern part of the shaft until  the level 1290, which currently reaches only to the level of 900. These works are to make way for man-riding and delivering materials to the level 1290, which in the future will be the main level of the Budryk mine.

Construction of the level 1290 in Budryk is not work underground only, but also on the surface. At the time when the shaft VI is deepened and reinforced and a new skip is being constructed in the shaft I, a thorough modernization of a processing plant is being carried out on the surface. It must be prepared to receive the roam of material and the production of coking coal with high quality parameters.
