Children in orphanages often find it difficult to get access to electronic equipment – especially now, when the coronavirus epidemic has forced schooling to move to the Internet. Kindergartens, schools and universities are closed and lessons are conducted remotely. This is why the management board of the JSW Foundation decided to donate computer hardware to those entities to make remote learning possible during the pandemic.
- We are trying to support various initiatives and I am very glad that this time also we were able to support the JSW Foundation in its activities. We take great satisfaction from being able to help children, in particular when we support education and development – said Piotr Toś, President of the Management Board of JSW IT Systems.
The JSW Foundation and JSW IT Systems donated a total of 14 computer sets with additional equipment, such as headphones, microphones and software. The hardware was donated to the Orphanage in Cieszyn, “Open Hearts to Children” Association in Kuźnia Raciborska as well as the “Ostoja” Child and Family Support Center in Pszczyna.
- We started the remote learning period with a single computer. At present, thanks to benefactors such as the JSW Foundation, our children have free access to schooling using computers. The JSW Foundation has never been blind to the needs our our children, for which we are very grateful – said Iwona Spora, Director of the “Przystań” Child and Family Support Center and “Ostoja” Child and Family Support Center. - We are very grateful for any support we receive, and I don’t mean material support only, but also for being interested, for remembering and contacting us and the children, who have been in isolation since March 12. We wish all JSW employees first of all health, optimism and hope for a better tomorrow – she added.
The campaign is yet another project carried out by the JSW Foundation in cooperation with JSW IT Systems, a JSW Group company. In late 2019/early 2020, numerous educational establishments benefited, through the intermediation of the JSW Foundation, from hardware replaced by JSW IT Systems. They received second hand computer equipment worth nearly PLN 30 thousand. In total, 197 computers, monitors and printers were donated.
