The electricity generated in this way satisfies one third of the mine’s total energy needs. The electricity generation process produces heat, which will be used in the future to produce cold to improve the climate conditions underground in the mine. Implementation of this project had an additional effect of reducting methane emissions to the atmosphere. The task based on the use of methane fits perfectly into JSW’s strategy, which calls for independence from external energy suppliers.
