Face shields for hospitals

JSW Innowacje has launched the production of face shields. The first pieces of this protective equipment have already been delivered to hospitals.

Face shields are manufactured by Zakład Technologii Przełomowych, a fully-owned subsidiary of JSW Innowacje. - Face shield construction elements are made on a 3D printer using materials of high resistance and excellent strength. We are using a design made available in an online library, which was consulted during its development with the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic - explains Bartosz Brzozowski, Acting Director of Zakład Technologii Przełomowych.

The first batch of face shields has already been delivered to the Emergency Ward of the Wolski Hospital in Warsaw and to a hospital in Iłża. Subsequent batches will be delivered to healthcare centers in Mazowieckie and Śląskie Voivodships on an as-needed basis. - To the best of our ability, we want to assist people and institutions that need this support. The technical equipment in place at JSW Innowacje’s Zakład Technologii Przełomowych enables the production of more than a dozen face shields per day - says Leszek Hoderny, Supervisory Board Chairman and former acting President of the JSW Innowacje Management Board. - During the assembly and packing work, we are applying the necessary protection measures to prevent the spread of the virus - he adds.

A maximum of two persons wearing gloves, face masks and protective goggles are permitted to work concurrently in the company’s 200 m2 laboratory. Every face shield is sanitized before being packed into a ziplock bag. It is worth emphasizing that in addition to the production of face shields, the company has begun work on the manufacture of reusable protective masks, also using 3D printing technology. However, in this case, it will first need to obtain all the necessary certificates.
