Miners leave hospital

The last two patients with isolated burns of the respiratory tract, injured in the methane explosion in the Pniówek mine, have been discharged from the Burn Treatment Center in Siemianowice Śląskie.

Five more severely injured miners still remain in hospital with burns to their bodies and airways. One patient's condition has improved enough that he was transferred from the General Surgery Ward to the Rehabilitation Ward.

The Dr. Stanisław Sakiel Burn Treatment Center in Siemianowice Śląskie is a leading Polish center for comprehensive treatment of burn injuries and chronic wounds. The Center has four wards, as well as a Hyperbaric Oxygen Laboratory, a Tissue Bank and a Nuclear Medicine Unit, among others. The average number of patients during the year is about 1,350, in addition to which the hospital provides 15,000 consultations per year.
