Grand JSW League Finals

On Friday, 31 May, we will find out who will become the champion of the JSW Volleyball League in the 2018/2019 season.

The finals start at 8.00am with the game for the seventh place, in which the Knurów-Szczygłowice mine team will take on Advicom. Two hours later, the teams of the Zofiówka Section and the Pniówek mine will enter the floor to fight for the fifth place. At high noon, the game between the teams of JSW KOKS and KWK Budryk will be played. 2.00pm is the start of the grand finals, which will guarantee strong emotions, as the battle will be waged between the awarding-winning teams of the Jastrzębie Section and the Borynia Section. The defender of the title, the Jastrzębie Section team, is the favorite. Borynia players ranked third last year.

The JSW League has been taking place since 2014, but the idea of the event was born just after the JSW S.A. President’s Cup Volleyball Tournament in 2013. The cup went to the KWK Jas-Mos team. Appreciating the huge interest and engagement among the employees and the high level of the games, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa authorities have launched amateur volleyball games in the form of the JSW League. The objective of the project was to promote sports activity among the employees and integrate them within the Group. Year by year, the games are gaining popularity. So far 13 teams representing JSW mines and sections as well as companies from the Group have taken part in the tournaments. On behalf of JSW the JSW League is organized by the Jastrzębie-Borynia Sports Club.

The winners of the games in the past included: in the 2014/2015 season - KWK Budryk, in the 2015/2016 season - KWK Borynia, in the 2016/2017 season - Jas-Mos Section (the team changed its name to the Jastrzębie Section), in the 2017/18 season - the Jastrzębie Section. Who will become the champion this season? We will find out already on 31 May. The tournament will be held in the Szeroka sports hall, starting at 8.00am. All volleyball fans are welcome.
