Innovations in education

JSW Group supports the development of employee skills. The role of the employer in the education process was discussed at the conference organized today (30 September) at the Pniówek mine by JSW and JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo.

The volatility of the labor market forces employees to continuously develop new competencies, such as the use of new technologies. The role of the employer is also extremely important in the education process. The same is true in the mining industry, with JSW Group companies taking care of personnel development through, among others, JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo, which offers a wide range of such opportunities.
 This is what was discussed at the conference entitled “Innovations in education: development - safety - efficiency” with the participation of representatives of the scientific community and industry.

- I hope that the research and development work presented during the session will support the use of modern tools, as well as other solutions keeping abreast of the challenges of the 21st century - said Piotr Pyzik, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets, opening Friday's conference. - I am convinced that the introduction of innovative educational initiatives in such an important sector as mining will bring well-educated personnel who will be the flywheel of the development of the Polish economy - Minister Pyzik added.

Among other things, the meeting discussed the experience with implementation of research and development projects. The results of the year's work can be used in development of new training techniques and methods.

- We were able to present our achievements in creating a new model for the education of miners and workers associated with the technical servicing of our mines - says Gabriel Cyrulik, President of the Management Board of JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo, adding that the vocational training system in the mining industry must be based on three pillars.

It is primarily about improving the professional skills of employees and ensuring the high quality of education. In addition, JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo uses virtual reality technology in education, making it easy to customize each level of training.

- The realistic reproduction of underground working conditions in digital space allows trainees not only to consolidate and supplement theoretical knowledge, but also to develop proper procedures for dealing with dangerous situations, which we would not be able to create in real conditions - said Aldona Urbanek of JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo.

The partners of the event included the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, the Central Mining Institute, the Industrial Development Academy and JSW Nowe Projekty S.A. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of Professor Jerzy Lis, rector of the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Kraków, and Tomasz Cudny, the President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A.
