JSU is not standing down

The summer vacation is in full swing and leisure destinations across the country are crowded again. This means that JSU, a member of the JSW Group which also operates in the tourism industry, is able to catch the wave of opportunity. The more the sunshine, the greater the chance of an economic rebound after the pandemic.

JSU sp. z o.o. currently has three tourist facilities. Two of them are located at the seaside: the Diament Leisure Center in Pobierowo and Neptun in Sianożęty. “It is worth pointing out that each of these facilities has its specialization,” says Grażyna Majewska, CEO of JSU. “Diament is a facility that comprises a hotel building and summer cottages. It is an ideal place to relax for families with children. We provide attractions for children such as Frolicground, games and activities with an animator, which takes the weight off the parents and permits them to relax peacefully.

The biggest attraction of Pobierowo is the large sandy beach, which is located a mere 400 meters from Diament. This perfect location, excellent home-made food, a family atmosphere and, above all, the numerous attractions for children guarantee a good rest for the guests. In turn, Neptun is located in the most beautiful and cleanest part of the coast, only 50 m from the beach and also very close to the town’s promenade. Coastal dunes, a broad sandy beach and clear waters guarantee excellent conditions for active vacationing. The facility organizes summer camps for children and youth and has a physical rehabilitation center.

JSU’s third facility is the Jastrzębia Turnia guesthouse in Zakopane, which is an excellent starting point for hiking in the mountains. “The guesthouse has been designed for lovers of the Tatras and fans of vacationing in very cozy interiors. It is a perfect place for either family vacations with children or company training courses away from the office, and the advantages include Polish highlander cuisine, warm family atmosphere and a convenient location in the second line of development along Kościeliska Street,” says CEO Majewska. “Our guesthouse offers an intimate atmosphere that makes guests return to us with pleasure.”

The first half of 2020 was a very difficult period for the whole tourism sector. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a total absence of interest in new bookings, cancelations of most existing reservations for groups and selective cancelations by individual clients. Despite the lifting of the operating ban for the accommodation sector at the beginning of May, during the first three weeks of the month the turnout did not exceed 10 percent. Since then, the situation has been gradually improving. The long Corpus Christi weekend in June brought the occupancy rates up to over 50 percent. “We always try to remain optimistic about the future. We have qualified and very committed employees, which undoubtedly helps us survive this tough period somewhat easier. In the current situation, we have implemented the necessary precautions and complied with all pandemic recommendations to make sure that our clients feel safe. We invite guests to relax in our facilities by running special promotional offers and themed events,” says the CEO of JSU. “For those of our clients who have been forced to postpone their vacation, we have decided, out of concern for their well-being and health, to introduce tourist vouchers with a discount for the next year and, for group cancelations, a refund within at most 30 days.

However, the sunny weather makes us gaze into the future with optimism. According to Grażyna Majewska, the number of inquiries from clients about available accommodation options increased at the end of June. “This is a good sign, but we are still cautious about overly optimistic forecasts, being aware of the anticipated increase in the number of new COVID cases in the fall. In view of this uncertainty, we encourage our clients to take advantage of our tourist offering during the summer vacation season,” she says.

However, the decrease in revenue due to the outbreak of the pandemic means that some of the investments planned by JSU have been postponed to the following year. It is worth pointing out though that the company’s plans to modernize some of the facilities have not been abandoned but merely postponed, because modernization is necessary to improve the standard of services and be able to operate successfully in this extremely competitive sector.
