JSW – a patron of sports

The Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has made a decision to continue its cooperation with sports clubs. In the JSW headquarters in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, agreements were signed with the authorities of four clubs: Jastrzębski Węgiel, JKH GKS Jastrzębie, GKS Jastrzębie and GKS Pniówek.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa perceives sport as an important element of its activity. Appropriate agreements were signed at the Company's headquarters, in the presence of the presidents of the clubs as well as Tomasz Śledź, JSW’s Vice-President of the Management Board for Technical Matters Artur Wojtkow, JSW's Vice-President of the Management Board for Employment and Social Policy. The signing of the agreement was also attended by Piotr Szereda, President of the city council of Jastrzębie-Zdrój and Grzegorz Matusiak, member of the Polish parliament.

- Our city has an excellent sports infrastructure and, through support from JSW, our teams are right up there, competing for medals and for top trophies, such as the Polish Cup won by the hockey team from Jastrzębie and top spots in the PlusLiga volleyball league. This certainly gives great satisfaction to both people from the city and the main partner – emphasized Grzegorz Matusiak, the member of parliament from Jastrzębie.

The image of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is strengthened primarily by professional sports clubs. The Company is also a patron of the Jastrzębski Węgiel Young Talent Academy project and provides financial support to amateur sports club from the towns where Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa conducts its activity.

As you know, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa mines coal and produces coke.But we also support local initiatives, collaborate with local governments and care for sports, which is very important. I am aware how much effort you must make to achieve success. That is why I am proud that you are representing Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa in Poland and internationally – said Tomasz Śledź, VP for Technical Matters, to the sports clubs’ authorities, adding: - I wish you all much success and continuing growth. We will be supporting you as much as the financial standing of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa allows it.
