In mid-June, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, as part of the JSW for Children program, invited children to a four-day attraction-packed trip to Mikołajki. During the stay in the Great Masurian Lake District, the children visited a Western and Indian Village theme park in Mrągowo. There, they learnt the history of the Wild West, witnessed a gunslinger duel and took part in a period dance lesson. The children liked most the visit to the Indian Village, where each of them could, among other things, try their hand at archery. Apart from the Wild West attractions, the kids had an opportunity to go on a cruise on the biggest Polish lake - Śniardwy. The kayaking trip along the Krutynia river was a new experience for most children. Between the outings, children happily visited the city beach in Mikołajki where, under the care of carers and lifeguards, they swam in the Mikołajskie Lake. Obviously there had to be a bonfire and, for those interested, a journalist workshop. – This was a great start of the summer holiday. We didn't expect so many attractions. Children are smiling all the time, which means they like it here. On their behalf I would like to thank Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa for inviting us to this trip – says Iwona Spora, director of the Pszczyna Orphanage. A few days after returning from Mikołajki, the children from Pszczyna “dropped in” the company to thank it for the successful trip. They met with, among others, Artur Dyczko, Vice-President of the Management Board for Strategy and Development.
Already in August JSW will take children from the Jastrzębie Orphanage on a similar trip.
It is worth noting that orphanages have very limited funds for summer holiday recreation for their children and if it were not for the efforts of JSW and people with big hearts who help this type of institutions, the children would have no chance of going on such trips.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has been supporting orphanages and primary schools from our region for many months. So far the Company has organized several dozen recreation and education trips as part of the JSW Knowledge Mine project.
In May, at the car park in its seat the Company organized a JSW Knowledge Mine Great Science Picnic, which turned out a great success. The picnic was attended by four thousand people.
On this year’s Children’s Day, JSW for the third time took part in the picnic for the youngest ones organized in the gardens of the Prime Minister’s Office. JSW employees from the CSR team organized science workshops, illusion shows, bubble shows and many other attractions.
As part of the JSW for Children and JSW Knowledge Mine projects, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa will continue to develop its activity associated with education for children and youths and help for the most needy children, in line with the saying that nothing is more important that a child’s smile.
