The journey started with the blessing of the bus in front of Caritas Polska’s seat. Next, this special quiet vehicle picked up its first passengers. Among them, next to the director of Caritas Polska rev. Marcin Iłżycki and Daniel Ozon, JSW’s President, there were, among others, assistance bishop of the Gdańsk Archdiocese rev. Wiesław Szlachetka. The next guests got on en route: Marian Banaś – head of the National Tax Administration and General Financial Information Inspector, Anna Król – vice-president of the management board of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, and representatives of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of the Environment.

The Mobile Embassy of Laudato Si' has been provided by Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa at the beginning of October in Toruń during the St. Francis Sunday – Environmental Conference entitled “Environmental awakening. Step one – I don’t waste food.” The campaign aims to change social attitudes to the natural environment.

As of today, the Mobile Embassy, i.e. the Mercedes Benz/ Automet bus lent for use by JSW, will be used in campaigns promoting this attitude. – This embassy is a great beginning of our environmental commitment – said rev. Marcin Iłżycki, Caritas Polska director after returning from the first journey.

The 4-ton vehicle offers 11 seats, 3 standing places and one place for a wheelchair. The bus, manufactured by Automet Group from Sanok using Mercedes-Benz subassemblies, is equipped with a 74kW BRUSA electric engine and lithium-ion batteries which, when fully charged, will last for 200 km. – Care for the environment is one of our priorities – said Daniel Ozon, JSW president at the press conference. – It’s an honor and joy for JSW to participate in this project. I’m happy that we fit the teachings of the Catholic Church. But let’s remember that this initiative is not the only environmental effort made by our company. Anyway – you will know us by our deeds – ended the president.
