Propagation of learning, especially in sciences, and promotion of specific models of behavior regarding environmental protection and integration with the local community, are the main objectives of the JSW Knowledge Mine. – We show that our company does not deal only with coal mining but is a good neighbor for the community in which it operates, explains Agnieszka Barzycka, manager of the JSW SA Corporate Social Responsibility Team.
The project was joined by National Geographic Kids. The magazine published the competition tasks in different categories last year. The interest turned out huge as approximately 2 thousand entries were received from all over Poland. Today, several tens of winners received awards in the JSW Management Board Office – The most important thing is that you have the will to learn and draw pleasure from it. We are happy that we can help you with that, said Włodzimierz Hereźniak, President of the JSW SA Management Board before the final.
In the competition entitled “Temperature of the Earth” the award went to Special Schools Complex no. 9 in Jastrzębie Zdrój, the second place went to Primary School no. 20 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój and the third place to the Kindergarten and School Complex in Studzionka. In the individual competition, in the Knowledge Mine Family category, the winner was Aleksandra Rączka and the next places went to Aleksandra Borakiewicz and Julia Powiecka. In the Knowledge Mine Friends category the awards went to Maria Jarosz, Tomasz Pichli and Łucja Sabaciak. In addition, awards in the “City game – let’s save the bees” competition were handed over. In the Younger Children category, the best team came from the Primary Schools with Integration Units no. 5 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, the second place went to the Kindergarten and School Complex in Studzionka and the third place to the Salesian Sisters’ Primary School Complex in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. In the Older Children category, the winner was Primary School no. 20 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, followed by Special School Complex no. 9 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój and the third place went to Primary School no. 6 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. The winners received exciting awards, among others, telescopes, electronic equipment and subscriptions of the National Geographic Kids magazine. – Studying means searching for knowledge, asking questions and finding answers. Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa looks for people who ask questions, people like you.
