The laboratory equipment worth PLN 330 thousand will be used, among others, for detecting the SARS–CoV–2 coronavirus and other biological pathogens. Thanks to the additional equipment the access to tests will significantly increase, not only for the residents of the Wodzisław county but also of adjacent towns and townships.

– This support is very important not only for the hospital but, primarily, for patients, who, at the same time, are often Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa’s employees. Thank you very much, because this is a great gesture towards patients and employees of our hospital - said Krzysztof Kowalik, director of the PP ZOZ County Hospital in Rydułtowy and Wodzisław Śląski, with its seat in Wodzisław Śląski.

Under a signed agreement, in the first place, a specific group of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa employees will be able to take advantage of the tests.

– We help numerous local hospitals in different ways and this is obvious to us. Please remember that Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa itself employs over 22 thousand people hence helping hospitals and other health care facilities in southern Poland we also help our employees and their facilities - said Włodzimierz Hereźniak, President of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa Management Board.

It should be emphasized that the equipment also makes it possible to test other virus, bacteria and fungi pathogens. Hence the equipment is very useful in diagnosing not only Covid–19 but also other diseases in the period of increased morbidity (especially influenza viruses), as well as, what is very important, detecting Clostridium Difficile bacteria, responsible for most hospital infections.

– I would like to thank Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa for focusing on this topic and the subsidizing the equipment. Thank you for caring for the health of our community - said Senator Ewa Gawęda, who made endeavors to purchase the equipment.
