JSW plants will be among numerous buildings over the world to join the support campaign. The World Autism Awareness Day was established in 2007 by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the initiative of Qatar.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It is characterized by differences in social communication and relationships, expression of emotions, learning and diverse behavior patterns. Currently in Poland it is diagnosed in 1 out of 100 children.
On this occasion, the JSW Management Board decided to financially support the Stowarzyszenie “Projekt Dziesiątka” Association operating at the Special Primary School No. 23 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, supporting students with disabilities in that school. Most of the children supported by the Association suffer from autism.
– We are happy to be able to support the activity of the “Projekt Dziesiątka” Association and take an active part in the World Autism Awareness Day. To show our solidarity with the people suffering from autism, JSW plants, just as many other buildings over the world, will be lit up blue today. We are not indifferent to the situation of people with disabilities – said Daniel Ozon, President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.
Every year, the “Dziesiątka Projekt” Association cooperates with the school to undertake numerous initiatives to improve the image of and support integration of people with disabilities in the local community. – I am happy that Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa joined the combined efforts of organizations and educational institutions operating in our city to support the disabled persons – said Anna Czajkowska-Osiadły, President of the “Projekt Dziesiątka” Association. The Association is the initiator of the city-wide celebrations of the Autism Awareness Day, the Day of Dignity of a disabled person and many other smaller initiatives in the city.
