Years ago, Pielesz played for the Żory team as a junior, before moving to Zagłębie Lubin, where she won the Polish championship, then she played for German teams and recently went back to the club in Lubin. In 2015 she won the 4th place at the World Cup in 2015. She signed a two-year contract with MTS. – I am going back to my home team, everything starts anew. I am really happy, because the girls are ambitious and extremely willing to cooperate. I do hope that I will be able to help them, also in the other role, as the second coach, and they will benefit from this – Klaudia Pielesz says.
In the spring, the club from Żory found itself in a tough financial position because of the coronavirus pandemic. It improved significantly after Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa became its new strategic sponsor.– We could say that an “angel” appeared and helped us. Thanks to the company and the city of Żory, we will be able to start the season without debt and have dreams for the future. I would love to see the day when our sports hall becomes too small to house all the fans – said Piotr Piotrowicz, the new president of the club.
– Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is the strategic sponsor of many valuable and important projects in Polish sports. Now, MTS Żory has joined this group. We have met people who decided to take the new, ambitious development path. The plans allow us to hope that Żory may even host the women’s handball Superleague in the future – said Artur Wojtków, JSW Vice-President.
For many years now, JSW has been supporting sports clubs from the region, including volleyball, hockey clubs from Jastrzębie and a first-league football club.
