Women at JSW

Women account for less than 10 percent of all Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa employees. It is not surprising that in most cases they perform administrative and office duties, but there are also women who fulfill their professional ambitions in supervision, both on the surface and underground.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is one of the biggest employers in southern Poland. The company currently employs 22,303 people, including 2,114 women, who account for 9.48% of all employees. Most of them work on administrative and office positions, where they account for 89.5% of the staff.

Women account for over half of the technical supervision staff on the surface – in total there are 560 of them. The lowest number of women – only 56 – work in underground supervision. That means that in all Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa mines, they account for less than 2% of the employees. These include, among others, measurers, land surveyors and inspectors. A large group of women also perform hard physical labor. The feminization level is high on the surface, where the share of women in physical labor already reaches 30.5% (as many as 680 women).
