This is one of the elements of the restructuring program implemented by the company's management, which involves the transfer of part of the assets of the Jas-Mos Site to the Mine Restructuring Company. The most effective deposits have already been exploited at Jas-Mos. Due to the very difficult financial situation of JSW changes are necessary so as to ensure the secure future to the mine and its employees.
The number of applicants exceeds the limit, which was set at 2,500 people. Among the 2 794 takers, 2 214 people are underground workers with the right to miner’s leave, 174 people are the processing plant workers, who also want to take advantage of the leave, while 406 people decided to take the severance. The Jas-Mos mine employees will be considered in the first place, just because the resources of the mine are running out and part of the plant goes to SRK.
- Once again we prove that even the difficult process we are able to perform calmly, without unnecessary emotions - says Tomasz Gawlik, CEO of JSW. - It would not be possible if not for the responsible attitude of both employees and the social side. Employees in September decided that they want to save this company. They gave a large portion of their salaries. Now also they approached the problem with the understanding. I would like to thank them for it - adds CEO of JSW.
According to the Law on the Functioning of coal mining, the underground workers who have no more than four years to the pension are entitled to the miner’s leave, and employees of mechanical coal processing facility, who have no more than 3 years to the retirement. The surface workers (including processing plants), who worked in the mining enterprise at least 5 years and who have no more than 12 months to the pension can take advantage of the severance payments.
Transfer of some part of Jas-Mos Site to SRK was supported by an intensive information campaign to employees. The company launched the information points at the mines, printed legible brochures, which were about the possibilities and conditions of the package. Information was also available on the website. In addition to the questions asked directly at the information points, employees can ask questions via the form on the JSW website. In total more than 300 questions were asked through the website form.
