The Overview of Religious Films was organized for all residents of Jastrzębie-Zdrój and environs. It began on Friday, with two screenings for schools. Younger children watched a film titled “Karol, który został świętym” [“Karol Who Became A Saint”] of 2014, directed by Grzegorz Sadurski, and older students saw “Apartament” [“The Apartment”] of 2015, directed by Maciej Czajkowski and Przemysław Hauser.
On the second day of the Overview, Prelate Bernard Czernecki celebrated a holy mass for the intention of the miners who went on their eternal shift. The mass was followed by an outstanding concert of sacral music: Veni Creator by Wojciech Kilar and Litany of Ostra Brama No. 1 by Stanisław Moniuszko performed by soloists and the Silesian Philharmonic Choir as well as the “Aukso” orchestra conducted by Marek Moś. After the concert, at a closed show, a biographical film titled “Świadectwo” [“A Testimony”] based on a book by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, directed by Paweł Pitera, of 2008 was displayed in the Centrum cinema.
The author’s evening with Krzysztof Zanussi, which was held in Dom Zdrojowy, enjoyed high popularity. His fictional film titled “Brat naszego Boga” [“Our God’s Brother”] of 1997, based on Karol Wojtyła’s play, was screened on the last day of the Overview. Free tickets were given out within a few hours.
The 1st Jastrzębie-Zdrój Overview of Religious Films took place under the media patronage of TVP3 Katowice and TVP3 Kraków.
