As Miłosz’s family announced, the bone marrow donors come from Poland. Following additional tests, one of the donors has been selected. There is a perfect match of the genetic code of the 21-year-old donor and Miłosz and the same blood type additionally increases the chances of a successful transplantation. The operation is scheduled for the turn of June and July in a Katowice clinic.
The procedure of preparation for the transplantation, the operation itself and the recovery time will involve spending 40 days in hospital. After this period, if there are no complications, Miłosz Marek will be able to return to normal life.
A lot of people got involved in the great campaign under the name “Everybody for Miłosz – become a potential donor” organized by the DKMS Foundation, including Miłosz’s friends and colleagues from Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. Great thanks to everyone!
