The plan for the entire 2015 envisages producing 16.4 million tons of coal, and its implementation does not seem to be threatened. A year earlier the mines belonging to JSW produced 13.9 million tons of coal. However it is worth stressing that the Knurów - Szczygłowice mine joined the company on August 1st.
- The production plan is being implemented as planned, and our efforts are now focusing on optimizing costs and obtaining the increased coking coal output as quickly as possible. It is mainly hard type, with a high rate of return. We are talking with business partners - both financial and from the industry on the implementation of priority investments in Budryk mine, Knurów - Szczyglowice and the integrated mine. We cope well with the reduction in operating costs, which allows us to maintain financial liquidity at all times. Despite the low levels of coal prices on the market, our commercial services sold a large part of the inventory - says Edward Szlęk, CEO of JSW.
Coal inventories in the capital group amounted to 882 thousand tons at the end of the first half of the year and decreased during six months by 377 thousand tons, mainly on coal for energy purposes.
In the middle of the year JSW employed 25 167 people, so the headcount was lower by 1,189 people compared to the end of 2014, when the company employed 26 356 people.
