Under the contract signed on 14 March in Warsaw, Budimex will build the new halls and conduct a comprehensive expansion and modernization project of existing production, social and office facilities with an area exceeding 15,000 square meters. This construction work will also span the construction of internal roads, parking lots and storage lots. These facilities will utilize modern power solutions such as photovoltaic panels and heat pumps. The Company will execute the contract under the “design and build” system with the contract value being equal to PLN 48.4 million. The construction work will last until 2020.
“Signing this agreement with the general contractor kicks off the actual execution of the ‘JZR Development Program’ to extend the production and renovation business substantially and achieve technological advancement”, says Rafał Rychter, CEO of Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe.
The production and renovation facilities designed and built by Budimex will allow Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe to develop the manufacturing of machinery and equipment for the mining sector in Poland and abroad. JZR will use them to manufacture and remodel: rails for suspended railways, rollers, main pipelines, scraper conveyors and powered support sections. This investment will lead to the creation of approximately 170 jobs in the municipality, directly in JZR.
“The signing of the agreement between JZR and Budimex constitutes another step toward the achievement of the company’s plans written into the ‘JSW Growth Strategy in 2018-2030’. I am counting on this investment just being the start of the comprehensive development of 70 hectares leftover from the Krupiński mine. Our plan for the industrialization and revitalization of this land calls for the establishment of a modern, 21st century industrial complex in Suszec in perfect harmony with the ‘Program for Silesia’ and the government program entitled ‘Sustainable Development Strategy’”, said Daniel Ozon – President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.
“This is a very important contract for Budimex. The JSW Group is a new client for us, and at the same time, it is a well-regarded entity on the industrial and mining market. We will build a modern facility for JSW along with all the area surrounding the investment. We have extensive experience in designing and building industrial investments. In the last six months we have handed over to investors two facilities of this type in the Masovian Region: a logistics center and a diagnostic device factory. Local Silesian subcontractors will also participate to a large degree in the construction of the production and renovation halls for JZR”, said Dariusz Blocher, CEO of Budimex SA.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has ambitious plans related to revitalization of the former Krupiński mine in Suszec. The Company would like for other entities to get involved, too because this means that a modern industrial complex will be developed on post-mining sites, which will include, apart from the JZR facilities, a factory of hydrogen cells used in electromobility and a modern production plant to manufacture carbon fibers produced using by-products of the coking process.
