More than six hundred million on security

In 2016, spending on safety in JSW exceeded 643 million PLN. This meant spending approximately 26.4 thousand PLN per employee per year.

Most money has been spent - as in previous years - to combat the methane hazard, namely 172 million. It includes both the study of methane content, study of the rocks on sparks igniting methane and measuring equipment for the crew  to determine the gas hazard, construction and maintenance of methane pipeline networks, maintaining the methane control center and buying the sensors.

In 2016 fire prevention and building insulation dam cost the company 142.8 million PLN.
JSW allocated 66 million zlotys for the activities focused on combating the climate change, which involve, among other things construction of the ventilation dames and the purchase and maintenance of refrigeration equipment. Prevention of the dust explosion hazard consumed last year 35.8 million PLN - to fight this hazard explosion dams are built, stone dust and  
spraying equipment is purchased as well as equipment for measuring the dust level.

JSW mines also incurred expenditures on roof caving prevention (more than 25 million PLN), rock bursts and water hazards. In addition, a total of about 103 million PLN was spent on prophylactic meals and beverages, protective clothing and footwear, special clothing and footwear, and personal protective equipment to protect the miners from the difficult working conditions and occupational diseases.
