Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is the company which offers the greatest number of workplaces in the region. Its staff consists of 22 765 people, 18 102 working under ground. What is more, numerous cooperating parties as well as mining suppliers work for JSW, giving jobs to about a hundred thousand people in the region of Rybnik and Jastrzębie.

The new workplaces are especially important in context of growing unemployment in Silesian region. The latest Central Statistical Office’s data shows that within the period of six months since November 2011 unemployment has risen by 0,8 % and was reported at 10,7 % by the end of April 2012. It indicates that in the Silesian region alone, over two hundred thousand people remains unemployed.What is worth mentioning, one workplace in coalmine generates from three to four workplaces in mining affiliated businesses.
JSW workers earn best in the business. In the period from January till April 1012 an average monthly remuneration amounted to PLN 7,187 gross, and is almost twice as high as an average remuneration in the enterprise sector.Apart from additional incentive and task-based bonuses, all employees will receive an award on account of profits in the total amount of PLN 130 million (an equivalent of a monthly gross remuneration), and a right to dividend from profit for 2011 on account of shares acquired free of charge.
In 2012, the company's payroll budget will increase by indexation. Since 2000, the amounts of remuneration paid to JSW employees have increased by more than 125%. The year 2011 itself brought a growth of 10.7%, with indexation at 4.3%.
