The celebrations of 11 November present an perfect opportunity to pay tribute to all anonymous heroes of August 1980 who fought for freedom and dignity for all Poles. The JSW Foundation has arranged an abundance of events which, despite the current challenging period of a pandemic, will enable their participants to pay homage to miners and celebrate Poland’s Independence and Freedom in unity.
Everyone is welcome to join in our events. Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., a holy mass for the Homeland will be held in the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, followed by a theatrical and musical performance entitled “Heroism of Witold Pilecki” at 4:00 p.m., which will be held without the participation of the audience but will be broadcast live on the internet at www.porozumieniejastrzebskie.pl. A spectacular light show will be projected on 40 buildings in Jastrzębie-Zdrój and places across the municipalities cooperating with JSW at 7:00 p.m.
The organizers of the celebrations call on everyone to pay homage to the miners by lighting a candle in their home window on 11 November, Poland’s Independence Day, at 8:00 p.m.
The events are covered by the National Patronage extended by Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland.
