Polish-Australian cooperation on development

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has established cooperation with new partners. During the Polish-Australian Energy Forum held in Sydney with the participation of Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, letters of intent concerning research and development were signed with Australian partners.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa entered into several cooperation agreements in Sydney as the outcome of prior technical visits to Australia in February and March of this year.

“For Polish mining to be competitive, it must invest in the most innovative, productive and environmentally-friendly technologies. For that reason, I am elated that we have managed to seal our meetings and talks held to date with Australian partners by signing specific letters of intent”, said Daniel Ozon, CEO of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.

Representatives of the most prestigious and reputable institutions and companies across the world are among the newest partners of JSW and JSW Innowacje. They own patents and are experts in the most sophisticated solutions and technologies.

One of them is CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), an Australian governmental agency. It has been in existence for more than one hundred years and is a well-known R&D organization. CSIRO has devised detailed modeling systems related to productivity. By utilizing the most sophisticated technology it develops innovative products and tools to meet the challenges related to the highly volatile mining industry. The tripartite memorandum of understanding concluded with JSW Innowacje pertains to coal preparation plants, petrographic analyses of coal’s granular composition and other areas related to forecasting quality.

Palaris is another new partner. It is well-known in Australia and across the world as a trusted advisor in the mining and commodity industry. It operates in the field of technical services, project execution and financial services. Palaris perfects and implements pioneering tools in the commodities industry relying solely on modern technologies. The memorandum of understanding concluded in Sydney is for the pilot implementation of a roof-bolting support system at the Pniówek mine.

The Australian firm doing business as ADS (Australian Drilling System) is a comprehensive supplier of underground directional drilling and has made enormous accomplishments in drilling services on that market. It is rapidly expanding its position in underground mining in Australia and abroad by designing a new and more efficient generation of technology for the commodities industry. Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has signed a letter of intent with ADS concerning cooperation in directional drilling techniques.

The Polish companies’ economic mission to Australia accompanying President Andrzej Duda’s visit is slated to last until 23 August 2018.
