Numbers of infected miners are growing

|   COVID

There are 44 infected miners in the Pniówek mine. In the Zofiówka mine, there are two confirmed infections. 256 Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa employees have been quarantined.

On Thursday, May 7th, screening tests of miners in the Pniówek mine began.

- They are organized in such a way that we are able to test the whole miner teams. This method of testing will allow us to find out exactly who should be quarantined. We conduct tests and we can immediately see the group of employees who must receive our special care says Artur Dyczko, Vice-President of the Management Board and head of the Crisis Management Team at JSW.

On Thursday, the screening tests ended in the evening. Approximately 200 miners were tested. According to the plan, a similar group should be tested on May 8th.

- The mines observe the sanitary regime introduced in mid-March. We keep the mines running. We adapt work organization rules to the current conditions. Safety of our personnel is our priority. We have taken all available measures to minimize the risk of infection, but during a pandemic the risk cannot be fully ruled out – Vice-President Dyczko emphasizes.

The personnel at the Pniówek mine is aware that special care must be taken. This principle applies also outside of the work establishment.

- When we speak about keeping the jobs, the crew knows that this is not an empty or trite slogan. Bad information is coming from all around the world. JSW meets its obligations to contractors and seeks new sales markets. We are not fighting for a result presented in tables. We are defending jobs that support tens of thousands of families – says Vice-President Dyczko.
