The competition took place on June 5-6 at the Regional Mine Rescue Station in Wodzisław Śląski. For the first time all the competitions were conducted on the basis of rules similar to the arrangements in international competitions. The same principle will also apply to the Central Rescue Teams Competition in September.
Three competitions were held during the event. On the first day of competition on a specially built track (not accessible for viewers during the competition) a simulated rescue action was performed. The first aid competition and rescue equipment mechanics contest were carried out on the second day. To ensure high level of professionalism, authority and impartiality of the judicial services, the State Mining Authority in Katowice and the regional mining authorities in Gliwice, Katowice and Rybnik and representatives of the Central Mine Rescue Station in Bytom were invited to assess individual competition representatives.
- Noteworthy is the so-called simulated rescue operation, which was the new experience for the rescuers apart from Borynia team. Despite this, all the teams showed a very high commitment and professionalism. In my view, the rescuers taking part for the first time in this type of competition have performed extremely well. The track where competition was conducted was prepared in such a way as to resemble the conditions underground. It is worth noting that the teams also struggled with difficult weather conditions, making the competition even more difficult – summed up Antoni Jakubów, head of natural hazards in JSW and organizer of the event.
JSW competition played according to the international formula, was a great opportunity for the rescuers and the judges to gather experience before the International Mine Rescue Competitions, to be held next year in Katowice.
