The public filled the stadium stand up to its capacity. There were competitions with prizes, games and a free children’s playground. Music bands: Standstone and Brathanki, the Słuchajcie cabaret, and Maryla Rodowicz, the star of the evening, performed on stage. The whole event was hosted by Piotr Bałtroczyk, a well-known stand-up comedian.
Jarosław Zagórowski, President of JSW, thanked the Company’s employees stressing that “Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is primarily its people”. “Thank you for accepting our invitation; I would also like to thank you for your perseverance and patience. I believe that all of us are proud to work at JSW”, emphasised the Company’s President.
Waldemar Pawlak, Minister of Economy, appeared as an unexpected guest to the event. The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated from the stage both the JSW’s crew and the management board on reaching an agreement concerning the Company’s privatisation. “I would like to congratulate all JSW’s employees, the management board and all those people who, in the spirit of the Jastrzębskie Understandings, lead to the agreement, as a result of which Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa made its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This is a very good signal; this is a very good sign”, said the Deputy Prime Minister from the stage. In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned also the Jastrzębski Węgiel sports club supported by JSW. “There are jobs here. This tradition, those understandings of 30 years ago, let that atmosphere contribute to finding a good, sensible way. This is also an instance of social responsibility as, apart from everyday work, there is also a support for the Jastrzębski Węgiel sports club. Such an attitude very well illustrates how a local company can support local sport”, said Pawlak, applauded by the residents of Jastrzębie Zdrój.
In response to that speech, Zdzisław Grodecki, President of Jastrzębski Węgiel, presented the Deputy Prime Minister, Waldemar Pawlak, Jarosław Zagórowski, and Piotr Bałtroczyk, who hosted the event, with personalised volleyball T-shirts. Later on, Paweł Rusek, the libero player of the Jastrzębski Węgiel volleyball team, threw 10 balls with the team’s autographs form the stage to the public. The picnic was concluded with a spectacular fireworks show.
