The Board has prepared a package of austerity measures. Unions refused to talk

Today i.e. January 8, 2015, the Board of JSW once again met with representatives of trade unions from the company. The Board has prepared a number of solutions that would improve the company's liquidity and reduce labor costs. Social party refused to participate in discussion. JSW has already invited the unionists to the next meeting, which would be held on January 12, 2015.


JSW Board wanted to present the proposals of savings that would improve financial standing of the company. It includes:

  • annual bonus payments, so-called 14th salary divided into installments, the payment of the  awards in consecutive years would be dependent on the financial results of the company and reducing the coal equivalent
  • introduction of a 6-day working week in the mines while maintaining the 5-day week for an employee
  • discontinuation in the payment of wage supplement and sickness benefit for the period of incapacity for work due to illness or isolation due to infectious disease
  • implementation  in the company generally applicable provisions of for calculating holiday pay, i.e. The Regulation of the Minister of Labor and Social Policy of January 8, 1997
  • elimination of subsidies for transport to work
  • cessation of deductions to the Social Fund for pensioners
  • implementation in the years 2015 - 2016 the code rules for the calculation of remuneration for work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and overtime
  • maintaining the basic salary rates in 2015 at the level of 2014
  • propose measures aimed at reducing the number of employees with pension entitlements
