The fourth day of the search begins

Our rescue workers have still not been able to get to the three miners trapped 900 m underground. The rescue operation is being run in extreme conditions.

15 rescue crews are presently working underground. The mining rescue workers have encountered major difficulties related to the mine floor having been pushed upward. They are manually searching meter by meter, cutting away large parts of the structure in order to be able to bypass it. “The rescue workers detected a radio signal from a miner’s lamp, but that signal is facing interference caused by the large quantity of metal parts. We are penetrating that region”, said Daniel Ozon, CEO of JSW.

The rescue workers are toiling away employing equipment with a hydraulic drive that is fit for use in these conditions. The total distance remaining to be covered from both sides of the intersection is 150 m and 80 m.

The CEO of JSW emphasizes that the safety of the rescue workers who are trying to access the roadway is of paramount importance. “The upcoming hours will make it possible to get to the end of the roadway. I would like to point out that this is a tedious task”.

We are also devising a concept on how to remove the winnings to make the mining pit passable. Our command center is working on this with the very best experts”, summed up Daniel Ozon.

More information will be released around 6-7 p.m.
