Thus, 24 700 people will work at JSW at the end of the year. Another 1,200 people is anticipated to departure in 2016, which means that within two years employment in the company will decrease by 2 900 people. It should be noted that these are departures from natural causes only, on pensions. The company does not foresee another way of downsizing the employment.
- In 2011employees received 10-year employment guarantees and we intend to keep that promise. We are able to achieve a significant decline in employment only because of natural reasons and suspended admissions. Of course, we cannot block the admissions of the staff to the technological line completely, but certainly there is room to increase productivity through the use of internal organizational reserves - says Edward Szlęk, CEO of JSW.
Reduction of the workforce translates into lower labor costs. On an annual basis this is a decrease of about PLN 150 million.
