The competition was attended by secondary school students from the Silesian voivodeship studying mining professions, including students from trade schools and technical schools with a mining profile.
“We are committed to ensuring that future mining employees are aware from the beginning of their career path of the importance of observing safety rules,” stressed Artur Grzywok, Director of Labor at KWK Budryk, adding “Safety does not start underground, but already at school. This competition is a good opportunity for young people to understand this and test their knowledge in practice.”
The competition included both theoretical tests and practical tasks. Participants had to demonstrate their knowledge of labor law, the activities of the State Labor Inspectorate, as well as the principles of occupational health and safety, first aid and prevention of hazards typical of the mining environment. The competition also tested the ability to use inspection and measurement equipment.
The winner of the competition was Kacper Lapon from the Jan Paweł II High Schools Complex in Pawłowice. Second place went to Jeremiasz Paździor also from the Jan Paweł II High Schools Complex in Pawłowice. In third place was Szymon Musiolik from Vocational School Complex no. 2 from Knurów. The ranking of schools was won by the Jan Paweł II High Schools Complex in Pawłowice.
"Thank you for your commitment, high level of knowledge and responsible approach to the topic of occupational safety. We wish the winners continued success, and all students a safe career path,” concluded Jarosław Rutkowski, Director of the Budryk mine.
The competition was organized by the Regional Labor Inspectorate in Katowice and co-organized by the Budryk mine, and the State Mining Authority in Katowice was the event's partner.
