Five miners found in Pniówek

Rescue workers have found 5 of the 7 miners missing in the disaster last April. The 5 miners were found in the N-12 longwall roadway behind the N-6 longwall inlet. Due to the difficult conditions of the operation, transporting the miners to the surface will take about 24 hours.

Rescue workers have also attempted to enter the N-6 longwall, where the other two missing miners are located.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the conditions in the longwall do not allow for conducting a safe rescue operation. After the found miners are taken out, the longwall region will be sealed off again.

In order to reach the location of the two missing miners, an additional cross-cut (one or two) will be excavated from the N-9 ramp to longwall N-6. It may take about a month to drill the cross-cut and prepare for the next operation. So far, 61 rescue teams have taken part in the operation, including 16 teams from the Central Mining Rescue Station (CSRG).
