JSW with loan for battery-powered locomotives

Eight VOLTER overhead battery-powered locomotives with complete transport sets have been delivered to the Budryk mine in Ornontowice. The investment was made thanks to a PLN 9.96 million loan from the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Katowice.

Transportation at the Budryk mine is mainly based on suspended cable cars. Six newly purchased locomotives are used to transport input materials to the working face in areas of excavated roadways.

The other two locomotives are used to keep the main coal haulage moving from the 1050 level to the 700 level, as well as from the 1290 level to the 1050 level. The locomotives transport, among other things: belt conveyor construction elements, and pipes for fire protection, compressed air, drainage and air conditioning pipelines.

The purpose of using this type of locomotive is to improve air quality and reduce energy consumption. It is worth noting that the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Katowice has granted funding for this purpose in the form of a loan which can be partially written off after a few years. The value of the entire project is PLN 12.38 million.
