Body of the report:
In reference to current report no. 5/2021, the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. (“JSW”) hereby publishes information on the education, qualifications, previous posts and a description of the professional career of Mrs. Barbara Piontek, who has been appointed as President of JSW’s Management Board, 10th term.
Barbara Piontek, doctor and associate professor – chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG), chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Pomorska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A., member of the Supervisory Board of Tauron Polska Energia S.A., deputy president of Katowicka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A., an economist and a professor at WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
She has been working for many years as a strategic adviser to SMEs. She is a market analyst and specialist in implementing new technologies, inventions and solutions, as well as a renowned expert on public management (at central and local level), management and development of strategic industries as well as building business models and on the innovativeness of economy. She has formulated development strategies for cities, business plans for strategic investments, and has participated in international and national R&D projects.
She is a graduate of the University of Economics in Katowice and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and holds scientific degrees from the University of Economics in Kraków and the University of Economics in Wrocław. She is a member of the Social Economic Council for the Silesian Marshal and the “Program for Silesia” Steering Committee for the Silesian Marshal as well as the Program for Silesia Executive Council for the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.
Mrs. Barbara Piontek is an associate professor at the Management Faculty of the WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza. She has authored and co-authored more than 200 papers, including research studies, practical economic analyses and reports for business as well as expert opinions for the Polish parliament and the Silesian voivodship.
She has worked in Poland and abroad, including as strategic adviser for the Digitalisation Ministry and strategic adviser for R&D firms. She specialises in strategic management, economic policy, methodologies for formulating development strategies, transformation management, innovativeness in energy, management of sensitive services, restructuring processes in mining and metal-making, management of development and local entrepreneurship.
At the same time, the Company notes that, in accordance with a statement made by Mrs. Barbara Piontek, she is not entered in the Register of Insolvent Debtors maintained pursuant to the Act on the National Court Register and does not engage in any activity that would compete with the Company’s business, is not a partner in a competing partnership, is a member of a body at a competing company (PGG) and at the same time is not a member of a body at any other competing legal entity.
