During the evening press conference Daniel Ozon, CEO of JSW said that the rescue operation is being conducted in very demanding conditions. “The rescue workers are working with complete determination to find the other three miners. The conditions in the roadway are very difficult. The rescue workers in the rubble must disassemble parts of destroyed plant and machinery. That work is very strenuous and time-consuming in these conditions”, said Daniel Ozon and added: “Air is being supplied to the mining pit the entire time. We know that there were pipes with compressed air in the mining pit. The two persons rescued yesterday owe their lives to the fact that these pipes decompressed”, reported Mr. Ozon, CEO. The rescue workers still have roughly 220 meters to cover. That is where the three miners being looked for should be.
Let’s recapitulate. The rescue operation in the Zofiówka Section is now in day two. As a result of the shock wave that took place on Saturday, seven miners remained underground. Two of them managed to get out at an early stage of the operation. They are now in the hospital in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Their lives are not in danger. On Sunday, the rescue workers reached another two employees. Unfortunately, they did not survive this event. More than 200 people are now involved in this rescue operation, including 17 rescue crews. New information concerning the rescue operation will be reported tomorrow morning.
