JSW Group - Partner for the Polish nuclear power

The JSW Group is ready to participate in the process of building nuclear power plants in Poland. JSW SA has a EU critical raw material, which is essential for the production of steel, which, in turn, is necessary for the construction of nuclear power plants.

- We are ready to guarantee the supply of Polish metallurgical coal and coke for the production of steel, which will be needed for the construction of nuclear power plants in Poland - declares Jarosław Kluczniok, JSW SA’s Vice-President for Development. - Our Group is ready to join the configuration of the supply chain for the construction of nuclear power plants. We are ready to cooperate with the Polish Government and the General Contractors involved in the construction of Polish nuclear power plants - I am thinking here of the Westinghouse and Bechtel Consortium or EDF, among others - adds Jarosław Kluczniok.

The possible participation of the JSW Group in the construction of nuclear power plants, entails an increase and guarantee of the involvement of Polish industry and Polish raw materials in the construction of strategic energy infrastructure for our country. The JSW Group intends to actively participate in the transition of the electricity sector in Poland, which is also part of the planned long-term transition of the mining segment and the business diversification opportunities of the JSW Group being analyzed.

The JSW Group is the largest producer of high quality coking/metallurgical coal and a significant producer of coke in the European Union, which an indispensable component in the steel production process. This year coking coal was given the status as a critical raw material for the European economy for the fourth time. JSW Group is an active participant in the coking/metallurgical coal – coke – steel supply chain which is critical to the growth and transition of the economy of Poland and the entire European Union. Steel is used in the manufacture of various key products, including wind turbines, machinery, vehicles (including electric ones) and building structures. The JSW Group’s operations are crucial to the transition and development of a climate-neutral economy.
